The Refresh Renovations team were honoured to be approached by a couple who wanted an entire full house refurbishment in order to convert their newly purchased abode into their dream home. The best part? They wanted a myriad of colour to bring brightness and vibrancy to their new life together – and with a different renovation job in each room, Refresh really delivered.
This project had a tight timescale of just twelve weeks but even with some setbacks and unexpected occurrences away the way, the specialist Refresh team of renovation experts were able to finish the job on time and ensure the family could move in as desired.

Colour Pops Through A Bright New Living Room

Conscious not to dominate the largest room of the new house with a single colour, the living room’s aesthetics take full advantage of the light naturally flooding through from the floor-to-ceiling windows leading out to the garden’s green space beyond. Painted white throughout, furniture was kept neutral for complementary hues with colour pops of larger pieces; namely a turquoise sofa, yellow armchair, striped black-and-white baroque chair and orange painting. The result is a light, bright living space with the illusion of plenty of room highlighted by both natural and synthetic light through sunlight and recessed ceiling spotlights.
The whole ground floor was connected with all-new limestone flooring fitted with wet underfloor heating for ground-up ambience and warmth throughout.

A light and spacious open plan kitchen diner

Open-Plan Kitchen-Diner

The brilliance afforded by bright white painted walls continues into the open-plan kitchen-diner which, again, benefits from floor-to-ceiling glass reflecting out into the back garden. Recessed ceiling spotlights with all white fixtures and fittings ensure light bounces from every surface – but the continued underfloor heating system maintains a warmth rather than cooling with the lustre. Large statement open-bulb lighting hangs over the glass dining room table to further illuminate, and a nod to the zebra-striped chair in the living room is made with mix-and-match black and white dining table chairs.
A kitchen peninsula affords extra countertop space and zones the room while not dividing those in the kitchen area from communicating with those in the dining room; keeping a sociable feel while not compromising on food prep and cooking/baking space. Again, colour pops are adding with appliances and other accessories for an informal, laid-back family feel – after all, we all know all-white won’t last as all-white for long in a family setting… even if it is all wipe-clean surfaces!

The cinematic inspired downstairs WC

Blue WC

Complementing yet clashing with the white exteriors of the ground floor, the WC on this level was specifically designed to be themed around 1979 James Bond spy-fi film, Moonraker. An admiral blue paint was used in the upper half of the room to contrast strongly with white tiling below, complete with white door, white toilet, white sink and illuminated white mirrors. Combined with a chunky red ‘Moonraker’ banner, the end result is a cinematic downstairs loo that’s out of this world!

Mustard Guest Bedroom

The second bedroom in the home also boasts a double bed but a slightly more reserved fold-out model. Embracing a mustard yellow across its walls, the guest bedroom feels creative and warm but supportive and embracing; an ideal combination for a good night’s sleep full of the inspiring sub-conscious. This bedroom also benefited from new windows fitted, their white frames contrasting beautifully with the brightness within.

Peach Double Bedroom

Colour was further injected into the main double bedroom of the home with peach walls – a colour said to symbolise sweetness, vitality and comfort in psychology circles. Departing with the typical neutral peach shade, the room grants a feel that’s cosy and warm but energising… pulling those within up and out of bed in the morning for the new day ahead.

Unexpected Delays – but No Impact On Customer

As with many refurbishment works, the Refresh Renovations Surrey team experienced some teething difficulties along the way. Poor drainage when investigated uncovered a fully collapsed piece of pipework underground that required full removal and replacement – no mean feat for the plumbers that were called out to tackle the job! What’s more, the window installation was delayed due to unforeseen supply issues due to the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which meant their fitting happened considerably later along the project timeline than expected.
However, the Refresh Renovations Surrey team know how to manage a crisis and can easily navigate a few bumps on the journey! They juggled priorities and managed the project to ensure that there was no overall delay in the family moving into the property and kept the budget to less than £2,000 over the initial quote; despite there being increased VAT charges and two variations on additional plastering and drainage jobs that were originally out of scope of the work entirely.

A Happy Home

They say colour is a power that influences the soul and in this home, it truly sparks joy. Refresh Renovations have delivered a fantastic homely feel throughout which anyone visiting can feel comfortable within, even if just visiting. Combining their end-to-end project management approach that allowed for autonomy and flexibility of works alongside their highly skilled team of partners, Refresh Renovations Surrey were able to complete the whole job in just twelve weeks and ensure the new homeowners were happy with their new digs.
Although most homeowners begin with only a job or two for renovation, Refresh Surrey and their team of renovation specialists are able to take on even the largest and most ambitious full house renovations. Give us a call and put us to the challenge to meet your timeline, budget and expectations… you may just be surprised and delighted at how much we can offer!
