Hoping to create a functional and personalised kitchen and laundry, these homeowners contacted Refresh.

Hoping to upgrade and personalise their kitchen and laundry, the owners of this light-filled 1960s bungalow contacted Refresh Renovations. Their local renovation specialist Mark Morrison supported them with the project’s design and build - ensuring the final result met their expectations.
“Our kitchen was looking very tired and was starting to fall apart”, tells homeowner Kevin. “We were keen to get some advice around how the layout could be improved and to put in a new kitchen that was both aesthetically sound and more practical to use. We also wanted to polish our floors and, if we had the budget, renovate our laundry.”
After meeting with Mark and his team, Kevin’s family decided to prioritise the kitchen: creating a tiled splashback, electric oven, gas hobs and producing a functional cabinet layout. They also wanted a rubbish/recycling solution, something “smart” for the cupboard leading to the laundry and new wooden floors in place of linoleum.
“The clients chose cool tiles for their splashback”, adds Mark. “They also chose a fizzy water tap which was a nice addition.”
A stone benchtop provided a sturdy, easy-to-clean design solution, while “shaker” style cabinets added some personality.
Working with Refresh meant that the homeowners could discuss their ideas with one point of contact and carry on with their day-to-day lives while the renovation was carried out and managed for them.
“We have two children and both of us work”, explains Kevin. “Our spare time is valuable to us and we were attracted to Refresh because of this. The time and the additional stress that was saved was really important to us. Refresh did a great job of managing things - not all of it went to plan but the team made sure that everything was managed and that there was very little for us to worry about.”
“We took care of all the trades required to upgrade the kitchen and laundry as well as rejuvenating the floors throughout the rest of the house”, adds Mark.
In just ten weeks, the homeowners were presented with their new stylish kitchen, laundry and flooring.
“We used a cost-effective kitchen supplier and still ended up with a very nice looking kitchen”, notes Mark. “The polished timber floors also came up looking very good. It looks fabulous!”
“We enjoyed working with the team”, concludes Kevin. “Megan did a great job of communicating the progress of the renovation and has some brilliant organisational skills, which meant that the project went quite smoothly and also that we were aware of changes, when people would be at our house and that everyone was on the same page. We also benefited from Tom's know-how and, along with Mark, the practical advice around what was possible and what was not. I felt the team had a keen eye on keeping to schedule, an example being when they went the extra mile to move our furniture for us so the floor sander could come earlier than expected.
I also liked the invoicing and payment process. This was a big project for us and having transparency over the costs made me feel more comfortable. The final payment is made after completion and provides an incentive (at least from my point of view) that the finishing touches would be completed quickly.
We're really happy, especially with the tiling and the floors - they look great.”
